Sherrif Valenti investigates an accident only to come back to the gang with terrible news. Alex is dead. Everyone is in stunned disbelief. They go to the morgue to bring Alex back to life but Max is unable to do it. Liz is in a frenzy to find answers and finds some things that worry her. Sheriff Valenti and Max think that Alex's death was a suicide. Liz is incensed and blames an alien for his death, causing a chasm between everyone.

Maria is trying to put together a memorial section of the yearbook for Alex but Liz keeps bailing. Liz finds out that the building behind Alex and Leanna in the photo was torn down in 1994. The rift between Liz and Max grows to new heights. Liz enlists Sean's help to break into the school. They get caught but Liz is let off easy. Max and Isabel are at each other's throats because Max won't let Isabel go to college. Michael is getting in touch with his human side and things between Max and Tess move to the next level.

After Max and Tess' night together Tess discovers that she is pregnant. They also discover that it is a son and he can't survive in the earth's atmosphere. Liz and Maria go to Las Crusces to find more answers. Isabel realizes the depth of the things that Max is going through. Tess is very sick and Max realizes how much she means to him. Liz, Michael and Maria findout that Alex was trying to translate the alien book. They come back with the translation, which is the way to get to their home planet.
